What vehicles are covered under Commercial Vehicle insurance?

Typical vehicles include vans, lorries, pickups and refrigerated vehicles.

Will I be double insured if I pre-purchase a new policy in advance while my current policy is still inforce?

No, you will not be double insured as long as the effective date of the new policy is one day after the expiry date of the current work permit. Purchasing the policy in advance helps ensure continuous coverage without any gaps. The new policy will only take effect from the selected effective date, not the date of purchase.

Who is eligible for ECICS Personal Accident Insurance?

Is there any coverage for Outpatient Medical Expenses (For Illness)?

Yes, we offer it as an optional add-on that covers outpatient medical expenses for illness that does not require hospitalisation. This benefit can cover up to $60 per visit, helping to ensure your FDW’s health needs are taken care of without added financial strain.

As an employer, is there a way to limit my liability on the $5,000 Security Bond?

Yes, you can. We offer Waiver of Counter Indemnity as an optional add-on. With this, your liability on the $5,000 Security Bond is capped at $250, and the insurer covers the rest if the bond conditions are breached. However, this does not apply to any breach of bond conditions due to your negligence or fault.

Can I make amendments to the policy after I’ve purchased the insurance?

Certain amendments (e.g., typo error in name or passport number or change in effective date) can be made before the policy effective date. However, a re-transmission to MOM may be required depending on the type of amendment.

What is the difference between Outpatient Medical Expenses (For Accident) and Hospital & Surgical Expenses?

• Outpatient Medical Expenses (For Accident) cover medical bills for outpatient treatments that arise solely from Accident. For example, your FDW accidentally scalds her hand while cooking and requires dressing for the burn.• Hospital & Surgical Expenses cover inpatient medical bills for treatments related to both accidents and illnesses.

Do I need to cancel and buy a new policy if I need to replace my FDW after purchase?

Yes, the policy will need to be cancelled, and a replacement policy issued.

Who must be present and what documents are required for the accident reporting?

The driver involved in the accident must report personally, with a copy of the Driving License and NRIC, and the certificate of insurance to the Accident Reporting Centres. The vehicle must also be made available for photo-taking at the time of reporting.

Can I claim against a foreign registered motorist?

It is advisable to make a claim on your own insurance policy. Making a claim against motorists from another country can turn out to be costly and time-consuming. If you are not at fault, your NCD will not be affected.

Why should I not accept assistance from towing services or workshops that appeared at accident scene?

These workshops are not under ECICS Limited authorised partners and we have no control over the repair quality. If the repair is poorly done, we will not be able to assist you should issues arise. Furthermore, the claim cost may be inflated, resulting in higher premium in your next renewal.

If a named driver comes out to purchase an entirely new policy with ECICS utilising his earned Family-NCD, can he continue to be named driver in the Family NCD policy and continue earning Family-NCD?

In the event that he utilise his earned Family-NCD to buy a new policy with us, he can still remain in the Family NCD policy as a named driver but he will not earn another Family-NCD. The Family-NCD can only be used once per policy per named driver.

If the policyholder experience an accident claim on the Comprehensive Family NCD Builder Plan what will happen to all the Family NCD members who are in the policy?

All earned Family-NCD will be reduced according to the GIA NCD framework (https://gia.org.sg/). However, with the Family NCD benefit still in place, it means all the Family NCD members can continue to earn 10% with each year of safe driving (max at 50%).
